What a pleasant surprise. I thought the blanket portion of this puppy dog lovey blanket was crochet. I was really impressed with the design on the into page and clicked to view the directions. I can sew but I have not in a while. This may be just the reason to break out the sewing machine.

Depending on the fleece you select to make the blanket for this puppy dog lovey, this could easily be made for a boy or a girl. Wouldn't the addition of a "hair" bow to the girl version just be too cute? I wish I had someone to make this for. Don't think for a minute I will not save it for just in case.

This little fellow is absolutely adorable! I have just the perfect person to gift it to as well! You could sooo change this up to make it look like your favorite pooch! You know if you could increase the size of this about 6 to 8 times it would make a perfect blanket for your favorite dog-loving kiddo too. It was nice for the artist to include the link for crocheting around the edge of the fleece.

This is such a great idea! My niece loves her "bear-bear," as she calls these. The pattern is easy to follow. If you want a different looking dog, it would be simple enough to switch out the colors of yarn. I can't wait to get some fleece and get started on this great pattern!

Here are two, more detailed images of the Helo Lovey

I wanted to make the lovey extra special for my grandson by making it look like his dog Helo. I turned the head upside down for a different head shape to match his dog and embroidered the pink splotches and black spots on the face and ear. I also altered the ears to be pointed and made them wider at the base, then gathered it together at the base to give the ears depth inside as well as causing them to flop over a little to look more like Helo. I used plastic safety eyes and embroidered pink around the left eye and black around the right eye. Pretty happy with how it turned out.
