Benefits of Crocheting
Did you know that crafting, especially working on something repetitive like a crochet afghan with a repeating stitch pattern, can actually be good for your health? The repetition of crocheting, such as when working on this crochet baby blanket, actually releases serotonin, a natural anti-depressant, that leaves the crocheter feeling much happier, calmer and much less stressed after their work than before they started. Crafting in such a way has also been shown to reduce the odds of developing mild cognitive impairment, so it helps keep your mind sharp and limber.Â
Knowing how to crochet can also help reduce anxiety by keeping your hands and mind occupied on the one tasks. This prevents you from fidgeting or having your mind wander. It also calms any irritation or nervousness and can also help combat insomnia. In terms of physical effects, it can help those with arthritis and crocheting keeps your fingers and joints limber, and it can help you keep your brain sharp.Â
Crocheting can also help you build your self-esteem by having you take pride in your craft, and it's a fantastic way to help you build a community or close-knit peer group.

This is a sweet pattern! I really like the Moogly website too! I appreciate the design elements they incorporate. The tutorial...both visual and written are very helpful. Sooo clean and crisp. I've found it's always good to have a baby blanket tucked away in my stash to give as a gift and this one sounds like it's a fun one to make.

I appreciate the video tutorial on how to accomplish the stitch pattern. Every little bit helps when you are learning something new. I will say, if it is from Moogly then it is a superb project! I love her stuff. The color combination on this blanket is so pretty, with the addition of the aqua or mint color mixed in with the pink and white. I have not worked with the Anne Geddes yarn as of yet...

I have ripped out row one twice now. It appears there are two extra chains at the end and I don't know what to do with them. when I did it the second time it turned out the same. I guess I'll watch the tutorial. anyone else have this experience? I hate to rate it at this point though because unless I can go on it's useless.

If you're looking for the perfect baby blanket to crochet, I would have to say that you've found it with this pattern. It's incredibly easy to follow and great for a confident beginner. It would make for a beautiful keepsake for the lucky baby who receives it. It would look great in any colour, whether it's soft pastels or bright rainbow shades.

After reading the pattern and seeing the video, I think this will be a easy pattern to do. I'm looking forward to finding the right colors to do it in. I'm thinking in pink and blue and maybe a light purple that way it could be for a boy or girl. Thank you so much for the free pattern and video..

Seems to be working out well. I'm only using 2 colors because I couldn't find a 3rd to match my variegated yarn. So far so good. Easy to understand.

I would consider myself an experienced crocheter, however this pattern has me stumped. I have started and ripped out at least three times now. The problem I am having is at the end of row 2 and row 3. They do not match up, one ending has gaping holes, the other is fairly finished. Has anyone else had this problem? Or perhaps there it's an error in the pattern. Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks
