GAUGE:
8 sc and 9 rows = 4" [10 cm].

SCARF:
Beg at bottom point, ch 4.
1st row: (RS). 2 dc in 4th ch from hook (counts as 3 dc). Turn.
2nd row: Ch 5 (counts as dc and ch 2 here and throughout). 1 sc in center dc. Ch 2. 1 dc in top of ch 3. Turn.
3rd row: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout). 2 dc in first dc. 1 sc in next ch-2 sp. 3 dc in next sc. 1 sc in next ch-2 sp. 3 dc in 3rd ch of ch 5. Turn.
4th row: Ch 5. (1 sc in center dc of next 3 dc. Ch 3) twice. 1 sc in center dc of next 3 dc. Ch 2. 1 dc in top of ch 3. Turn.
5th row: Ch 3. 2 dc in first dc. 1 sc in next ch-2 sp. (3 dc in next sc. 1 sc in next ch-3 sp) twice. 3 dc in next sc. 1 sc in next ch-2 sp. 3 dc in 3rd ch of ch 5. Turn.
6th row: Ch 5. *1 sc in center dc of next 3 dc.Ch 3. Rep from * to last group of 3 dc. 1 sc in center dc of last 3 dc. Ch 2. 1 dc in top of ch 3. Turn.
7th row: Ch 3. 2 dc in first dc. 1 sc in next ch-2 sp. *3 dc in next sc. 1 sc in next ch-3 sp. Rep from * to last sc. 3 dc in last sc. 1 sc in next ch-2 sp. 3 dc in 3rd ch of ch 5. Turn.
Rep 6th and 7th rows 9 times more. 43 groups of 3 dc. Do not turn or fasten off.
Edging: (RS). Working along left side edge of Scarf down to point, ch 3. *1 sc in side of dc or turning ch at end of next row. Ch 3.
Rep from * to point. (1 sc. Ch 3. 1 sc) in point. Working up right side edge of Scarf, **Ch 3. 1 sc in side of dc or turning ch at end of next row. Rep from ** to last row.
Fasten off. Leave top edge of Scarf free.
