This is a great basic idea. When I first started crocheting I picked out four pastel colors, pink, green , yellow and blue. I made a square very similar to this. But each square I alternated the colors. Pink, blue, green and yellow, then green, yellow, pink and blue and so on. This would be pretty done likewise.

I recently ran across a granny square that formed a seashell. Mixing a few of these in with those square will really make a great statement. Mixing sun and sand what a great concept.

Oh, the possibilities! This pattern design can be made and used in almost any application. The designer just presented you with how to make the sun burst square but once you get it made you can use it to make coasters, place mats, table runners or afghan. Great granny square.
