7 Taylor Swift Cardigan Crochet Patterns
Whether you missed out on purchasing the original Folklore cardigan, or just want a chance to flex your crochet skills, these Taylor Swift cardigan crochet patterns will never go out of style.
Sometimes being a Swiftie feels like a full-time job, and even the biggest Taylor Swift fans can miss out on limited edition merch. Buying merchandise directly from your favorite musical artists is a great way to support them, but sometimes you miss a limited edition item, or you don’t have the extra cash to splash out on a pricier piece. If you weren’t able to buy a Taylor Swift cardigan from her website, never fear! You can still channel the timeless style of your favorite star with these 7 Taylor Swift Cardigan Crochet Patterns.
Love(r) her or hate her, no one can deny Taylor Swift knows how to cause a commotion. When her surprise album Folklore came out in July 2020, suddenly cardigans were everywhere. As a Swiftie and a yarn enthusiast, I was enchanted by the trend. While I was lucky enough to receive one of the Taylor Swift cardigans as a gift, so many other fans missed out on the opportunity and have a blank space in their closet. Since the original Folklore cardigan is knit rather than crochet, it would be difficult to create an exact replica without swapping your hook for knitting needles. However, with a bit of improvisation and adjusting, it is possible for an advanced crocheter to work up the Taylor Swift inspired cardigan of their wildest dreams.

1. Aria Button Down Cardigan
Did you know Taylor Swift’s grandmother Marjorie was an opera singer? The lucky ones who snagged tickets to The Eras Tour even got to hear a snippet of one of Marjorie’s lovely arias while Taylor performed her song named after her beloved grandma. This cozy button-down cardigan has the same cream hue, v-neck line, and button-front look as the original Folklore cardigan. With a little bit of improvisation and some darker buttons, this easy cardigan pattern could be an excellent dupe for the original.

2. Everyday Cable Cardigan
Crochet cardigan patterns with cable designs are not as easy to come by as their knit counterparts, but this beautiful pattern makes a great introduction to crocheting cables. You can work up this classic cardigan in a cream yarn and add dark gray or black accents around the opening and cuffs to increase its resemblance to the Folklore cardigan. This pattern will never become an old cardigan under someone’s bed, because once you put it on it will definitely be your favorite.

3. Button Up Cardigan
Like the Folklore Cardigan, this pretty pattern features a v-neckline, a button-down front, and interesting texture. If no one has ever been as cold as you, you’ll find yourself wearing this cozy cardigan almost as much as you listen to Midnights. It would take some color changes and design tweaks to make this cardigan look more like the Taylor Swift sweater, but if you’re a crochet mastermind, it could be a fun challenge.

4. New Beginnings Cardigan
Sacred new beginnings, that became my religion… You’ll feel transported to Cornelia Street in this filet stitch open cardigan. If you’re not a very experienced crocheter, working up a cabled cardigan with shaping might seem too intimidating. Luckily, the New Beginnings Cardigan is an easy skill level pattern that is suitable for advanced beginners. You’ll be surprised by how swiftly it works up (sorry, had to).

5. Icebox Cardigan
In her Red era, Taylor was often seen rocking vintage-style dresses and cardigans, much like this vintage inspired sweater. The Icebox Cardigan would look adorable over a dress or casual-cute paired with jeans. You’ll feel like you’re made of starlight while out and about in this ultra flattering cardigan.

6. Latte Cardigan
Taylor Swift has mentioned her love of lattes on many occasions, and even put a secret message spelling out “Maple Lattes” in the lyrics for her song All Too Well (if you know you know). She even teamed up with Starbucks during the release of Red (Taylor’s Version) to offer her signature drink, a Grande nonfat caramel latte as the “Taylor Latte.” Wear the pretty neutral colors of a latte in this oversized chevron cardigan pattern.

7. Gap Year Cardigan
One could say Taylor took a “gap year” from being one of the biggest stars in the world before the release of her 2017 comeback album Reputation. It is believed she spent much of the time hiding away in London, and I’d like to think Taylor wore cozy cardigans like this one while writing fan favorite songs like Delicate and Call It What You Want.
