How to Crochet the Spider Stitch

"Learn how to crochet the spider stitch with this full, photo tutorial. The tutorial takes you step by step so you can master this lovely stitch. The spider stitch creates a beautiful fabric with amazing flow and texture. The fabric created is dense and great for blankets, dish cloths, or bags. Using a larger hook allows you to maintain a dense fabric with flexibility. A smaller hook will make a nice stiff fabric. Skills to know to master the spider stitch include chains, single crochet, skipping stitches, and working in chain spaces."

Before finding this post, I dont think I had ever worked the Spider Stitch before. I have worked similarly sequenced stitches (stitch-chain-stitch in the same space), but never using Single Crochet. So I worked up a swatch, and the designer is completely right about finding that one little chain hidden amongst the work. Its well worth it though for such a solid fabric.

This is a very unique and pretty pattern. I haven't seen it before. I read the directions and it's not hard at all. If you follow them and look at the pictures you can do it. I like the tight weave because it may not need a lining. Nothing will fall out.
