I love this frilly goddess shawl but would appreciate seeing it in a different color. I guess because it was inspired by a vintage doily pattern is why this color was used. Back in the day most items were made in white or beige/taupe. Thanks for all of the additional pictures so that I could get a better view.

Is that a pineapple design in this goddess shawl. Why yes, it is. I love the pineapple stitch. I see it a lot of patterns but I am too chicken to try it. My Mom was a pro at them. I am not sure if I can believe that this is an easy project. There are so many directions.

Hey.... I'm trying this pattern out I'm pretty new to crocheting so I'm trying my best to fully understand... For number 11 where u have to use the picot, after chaining the 6 do u sl st at the top of the trcl? Or at the base where it was started? I'm not quite sure This is my first time doing a picot

Can you help me please with row I did the trCl shell increase in r My count at the end of r is as the patterns states but I am stuck at the first few stitches of r The pattern calls for Beg-trCl in first trCl ch sc in next ch- space ch trCl in next trCl ch skip next ch- space but if I do this I am skipping the entire first pineapple and the first last trCl shell of the first increase before moving onto the second pineapple I know I have to be overlooking something simple but I just can't see it I even tried to read the pattern from the end of the row backwards figuring it was symmetrical but that didn't help If the first and last pineapple are skipped how does the count end up with clusters and still pineapples I can only count clusters…Read More no matter what shell increases is clusters x shells one from each end I appreciate any help I am frustrated tried putting it down for a day but I still come up with the same problem Thank you in advance

I was unable to find the Spa yarn anywhere either, also finding it's discontinued. Through my search though I was able to find this substitution suggestion website http//yarnsub.com/yarns/caron/spa Hope that helps you at least find a replacement to make this shawl properly.

Can someone please help me with row 16? I cannot see how these instructions relate to the previous row at all. Row 15 does not have a ch-3 sp - so how can I put a sc in it? Row 16: Beg-trCl in first trCl, ch 3, sc in next ch-3 space, ch 3, trCl in next trCl, ch 6, skip next ch-6 space, I am pretty new to crochet, but I was doing fine until row 16/

Row 15 (trCl shell INCREASE row): Beg-trCl shell in first trCl, ch 6, skip next ch-6 space, [sc in next ch-6 space of pineapple, ch 6] 3 times, *trCl shell-INCREASE in ch-3 space of next trCl shell, ch 6, skip next ch-6 space, [sc in next ch-6 space of pineapple, ch 6] 3 times; repeat from * across to last trCl, trCl shell in last trCl, turn11 shell INCREASES, 2 shells, and 12 pineapples. If you notice, you are doing trCl INCREASE. (([trCl, ch 3] twice, trCl)) Your ch-3 sp is right between your clusters. Don't feel bad, threw me for a loop at first too!!

Did you figure out row 16? I too am stuck. I see where there is a ch 3 space in row 15 but if I stretch over to it for the sc, I am skipping the entire first pineapple.

I have made this shawl twice and had no trouble following the pattern, but the woman in the picture must be absolutely tiny, as even crocheting very loosely with a larger hook this pattern makes a small shoulder shrug and not the lovely draping shawl shown in the picture.

This is beautiful but now I'm not sure if I should make it! Has anyone else found a way to make this so that it isn't so tiny? Has ANYONE had it come out fine? Also, are these English instructions as opposed to USA instructions? With Brit instructions a double crochet is actually a single crochet. Could that be causing confusion? SO sad to not make this until I know for sure!

Hi TJ, Glad it's working out for you. I've been crocheting for a long time too and this pattern was a doozy with some rows. I also made the sleeves which look really pretty just by tacking a single crochet in the proper spot.

djaspercat24 9019706 Thanks so much for the clarification on row 10, I have been crocheting since I was a child, I thought perhaps I was just getting old, and couldn't read a patterns any more. With your advice, have made it thru row ten and it is working out perfectly. Thanks Again....TJ

After I started the shawl over I crossed out the numbers 1 -20 to the left. These are not rows and that's why I was getting confused. Once I did that every row is working out perfectly (so far).

I had the hardest time with row 10 also. I had to start the shawl all over. Row 10: When you come up to the * make a picot in the next treble stitch, trCl, ch 5, follow the directions until the * You will end up with 23 picots which you will need for row 11 because then you will have 11 shells, 12 6 treble groups. I am on row 12 right now and it's working out perfectly so far. Hope this helps.

I made this pattern over the weekend. There are a few errors and I seem to have ended up with one less row of trcl down the front so it looks a bit odd however probably more noticable to me than to anyone else while I wearing it. I have photos of mine on my blog , http://deliciousdesignz.blogspot.com.au/2013/09/the-goddess-shawl.html

Row 8: Beg-trCl in first trCl, ch 5, trCl in next trCl, *ch 3, tr in next tr, ch 3, trCl in next trCl, ch 5, trCl in next trCl; repeat from * across, turn24 clusters and 11 tr. Should read: Row 8: Beg-trCl in first trCl, ch 5, trCl in SAME trCl, *ch 3, tr in next tr, ch 3, trCl in next trCl, ch 5, trCl in SAME trCl; repeat from * across, turn24 clusters and 11 tr. That is the only mistake I have found so far. Mine is turning out after adjusting that. I am only on the 10th row so far because I just started today, but I will share a corrected version (or at least a version that I have made work for me.) This is not my pattern, just changes I have made that make sense for me and make the pattern work.

Ignore my comment. Turns out I misread Row7 and only did trCl instead of trCL shells. If you do the shells it all makes sense. LOL

I followed the directions until I got to row 8 and then it started to cup in, so I looked at the photo and on row 7 there are 2 triple clusters in each cluster, going to try it that way and follow the photo instead of directions. I love the pineapple design and think I can make it work, if anyone else has this problem please let me know I wonder if the designer realizes the mistakes

I am using Red Heart classic size 10 cotton crochet thread, have no idea what the thread is that is suggested in the directions, so I will just have to see how it comes out, I am on row 7 now and it looks good, Also using size c aluminum hook

Row 8 is mathematically impossible. You skip every other triple. How can you end up with 11 tr.? From the picture it looks like you put 2 trCl in each previous row's trCl tp end up with the 24 on row 8. I am going to tr in each tr and 2 trCl in each trCl so I end up with the 24 clusters and 11 triples as stated on pattern.

I love this Shawl and really want to make it. The only problem is that I live in the UK, so I am going to need to go special delivery, This could be quite expensive, so I need to know how many rolls of yarn I need to order to completely make sure I have enough. The only problem is that the pattern doesn't say how many I need. Please, please could someone help me. Either that or tell me what yarn I can use in replacement that I can order in UK, I await any help I can with bated breathe

The patterns says you need 9 ozs to comete the shawl. I am working on it now and as many of the ladies say, it is very, very small ( and afraid it is not going to fit me as it does the woman in the photo.

I am having a blast with this pattern! I'm about half way done, and was wondering I could make this to be longer. Does anyone know which rows I could double up to make it longer? Like maybe do rows 13-18 twice? Anyone with a suggestion would be awesome! Or maybe someone knows of a pattern like this one but longer? Thanks!
