I like the way the spike stitch gives the cowl lots of texture and it is really easy to do. And this is a smaller project, so it uses less yarn, even though it uses two colors.Kim Guzman has a lot of awesome free patterns, so I am usually a fan of anything she designs.

First off, thanks for posting the little tutorial on this splash page. Its not a hard stitch but not one I use frequently, so a refresher is always appreciated. As for the project itself, I downloaded it because Ill probably want to make it again. Its only 10 rows (9 if you work a Foundation Single instead), 39 stitches each row, so it will certainly work up fast.

I really believe that I could complete this snazzy cowl in an hour, for sure! This will go down as one of my giftable crochet patterns for friends, teachers, family. I recently learned of the spike stitch. It is SO FUN to do! Not difficult to do at all.

Whenever I see a title like "one hour cowl" it's like a challenge to me. Can it really be done in an hour? I'll have to try it, but with the super bulky/super chunky yarn and big crochet hook it should work up quickly. It will be a cute way to use up some of the chunky yarn in my stash.

I am loving all of these one hour projects that I have found on this site. This bulky one hour spike stitch cowl is such a pretty accessory and its hard to believe that it is just a one hour project. Cant wait to learn a new stitch with this spike stitch. Looks awesome.
