Smitten Crochet Blanket

Based on a vintage pattern, the Smitten Crochet Blanket is anything but outdated. The beautiful design features the popular crochet popcorn stitch throughout the pattern, giving the blanket an eye-catching look that you will love. This blanket is light enough to be used during your afternoon nap on your favorite couch or while reading a book. This crochet blanket can also be folded up and stashed inside your car trunk for use on a picnic. Consider crocheting a blanket or two to keep on hand for last-minute gifts for family and friends!

I like this Smitten blanket for its color and design. You can make it wider and longer if you want. You can even use a different color for this. But over all, it looks elegant.

I think this would be the perfect blanket for a baby's christening. It is such a beautiful piece and this is just the right size for a baby blanket. In my family this would be one of those items that are passed down from generation to generation for just such an occasion. Thanks for sharing.

The title for this crochet blanket is spot on. You will be smitten with the final result of this blanket. I see here the designer only used four squares for her finished blanket. I would think that the number of squares could be increased so that this would be a bed spread for a twin, full, queen or king. I would double dog dare someone to use this as a picnic blanket too.

This really is an EASY design. I had no problem following the directions and didn't really need any other pictures. The yarn you pick to use will determine the way you use it. Heavy yarn would be a great picnic blanket. I am thinking rug yarn for a small throw carpet in my bath?

I find it almost impossible to believe that this astonishing afghan is actually an EASY project. The vintage part I can readily believe. While the designer has posted a number of photos of the finished project, I do wish shed posted a photo of just one completed square. The squares are so nicely joined that it took me a little while to find a single square.

My favorite thing about this blanket IS the vintage look. She sure picked the right yarn color for it, too. The other thing that makes this a really desirable pattern is the fact that it is comprised of several separate squares. You make as many as the pattern calls for OR you can customize it and make as many squares as you want or need to create a really big blanket for two- or more! It makes it easy to suit your personal needs. Thanks you for sharing this beautiful pattern, I love it!

I like this pattern! I like working with the popcorn stitch in crochet also. This would come in handy for the winter months and you wouldn't have to worry about being too chilly on those long cold winter evenings while relaxing on the sofa. I think it would make a fun gift as well. This will be on my to do crochet list for sure!

what kind of yarn and how much to buy please?

I'm not a fan of Granny Squares so with that being said, this pattern for the Smitten Crochet Blanket is so cute I have to try it. I love the pop corn stitch and it looks beautiful in this pattern. I have this one in my saved/must make file and will be making it up. I may have a new fun afghan pattern. I think the pattern is well written and has a nice chart to follow if needed. Thank you so much for sharing this free crochet pattern.
