Autumn Leaves Napkin Rings
Treat your dinner party guests to the most perfect place setting ever with these Autumn Leaves Napkin Rings. This free crochet pattern includes directions on how to crochet a set of six napkin rings. Save these for Thanksgiving dinner, or use them all autumn long for festive dining. The completed leaves and rings are lightly felted to give them a nice, polished look. Each crocheted napkin ring measures about 2.5 inches by 4.5 inches.

SIZE: One Size, About 2 1/2 x 4 1/2 in. (6.5 x 11.5 cm)
GAUGE: 13 sc = about 4 in. (10 cm) before felting.
EXACT GAUGE IS NOT ESSENTIAL TO THIS PROJECT.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: sc2tog (sc 2 sts together) Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook - 1 st decreased.
NOTES:
1. Completed Leaves and Rings are lightly felted by hand.

INSTRUCTIONS:
LEAF (make 6 - 2 each with A, B, and C)
Ch 3.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next ch - 2 sc at the end of this row.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
Rows 3-6 (Increase): Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first sc, sc in each sc across to last sc, 2 sc in last sc - 10 sc at the end of Row 6.
Rows 7-11: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
Row 12: Turn, sl st in first 2 sc, sc in next 6 sc; leave remaining sts unworked - 6 sc at the end of this row.
Row 13: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc in each sc across; leave the sl sts unworked - 5 sc at the end of this row.
Rows 14-17: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc in each sc across - 1 sc at the end of Row 17.
Fasten off.
RING (make 6)
With D, ch 6.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across - 5 sc at the end of this row.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
Rep Row 2 until piece measures 6 in. (15 cm) from beginning. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.
Felting
Fill sink with hot water and small amount of liquid soap (hand or dish soap or even shampoo will work).
Wearing rubber gloves, submerge Leaves and Rings in soapy water.
Rub surface of knit fabric, working over entire surface until sts begin to lose their definition. Rinse gently to remove soap. Allow to dry.
With desired yarn color, embroider straight st leaf vein details on Leaves. Seam ends of Rings. Sew a Leaf to each Ring, over the seam.
