Learn how to crochet the puff stitch with this video tutorial from Kristi Simpson! The crochet puff stitch is a stitch that gathers yarn together in one area, similar to the bobble stitch. Though the two stitches are somewhat similar in appearance and construction, they are very different from each other. The puff stitch is a cluster stitch, but the resulting stitch doesn't rise up off of the pattern like for a bobble stitch. Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)
- Yarn: Premier Home Cotton, Medium weight #4
- Hook: 5.5mm
How to Crochet a Puff Stitch
Crochet puff stitch: [Yo, insert the hook into the next stitch. Yo and draw up the yarn. ] x 4 times. Yarn over and pull through all loops on your hook.
Row 1: Sc in the second chain from hook and in each across (27 sts).
Row 2: Turn, ch 3 (first dc), ch 2, * puff st, ch 2, sk 2, repeat from * across until 3 sts remain, ch 2, sk 2, dc in last st.
Row 3: Ch 3, dc in each ch and st across.
Rows 4-10: Repeat Rows 2 and 3.
Row 11: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
