Give the traditional red Santa hat an upgrade with Santa's Favorite Crochet Hat pattern. This crochet hat has the same red shade and white pom pom and trim that the traditional Santa hat has, but this crochet pattern also features a festive buckle detail. Worked up in a simple stitch pattern with just a few easy color changes, this crochet hat pattern is available in nine different sizes, from newborn to large adult, making it so every member of your family can have a matching hat this holiday season.

-The hat can be started with a Magic Ring or with the instructions given in Round 1
-Some rounds are worked in a spiral; use a stitch marker or piece of yarn to mark the first stitch

On the Rounds that are joined:
-The starting chain does not count as a stitch
-Each round is started in the same stitch as your starting chain
-The end of each round is joined by slip stitching in the first HDC of the round

    2) Wrap one strand of yarn around the ends of the cardboard pieces approximately 150 times. Cut the yarn
    3) Bring the 12-inch piece of yarn up through the notches and tie it securely around the wrapped yarn.
    4) With the notched end of cardboard towards you, slip your scissors between the two pieces of cardboard and cut through all the yarn loops, leaving the two longer strands attached.
    5) Once all the loops have been cut, use your fingers to fluff the pompom.
    6) Slip the pompom off the cardboard and trim the ends until they are an even length all around. Use the two long strands to attach the pompom to the tip of the hat.
