Has anyone tried cotton yarn instead of nylon?

This Natural Colored Floppy Brim Hat is so cute! Just the thing I need to keep this Oklahoma sun out of my eyes! Heads up all when you click through and the pdf comes up it at first glance looks like a knitting pattern BUT it calls for a G/6 (4mm) crochet hook and is indeed a crochet pattern! It's great that they've given the pattern to us in three sizes...not all heads are created the same! Also the pdf makes it very easy to print. Thanks again for a nice pattern!

Living in Florida, I always need a hat with a brim to keep the sun off of my face. So glad to see how easy the instructions were to access. Love that the link opens directly into a PDF so that I can save it and print it as needed. I will have to check my yarn shop for this nylon. Im not sure they would carry that, and I have never seen it before.

Have been looking for a brimmed hat to wear to grand kids soccer and baseball games. This fits the bill. The color is perfect and the nylon should hold the shape..Hopefully I can find this yarn at the local craft shop, if not, will order it online. Thanks for posting this one.

Is there anything special I need to do to finish off the loose ends because of the crochet nylon? I don't want my hat to fall apart....thanks so much!

I'm not understanding the "5 dc in next sc" part for the shell band. Is it 5 dc in same sc or 5 dc in next 5 sc? I'm confused, sorry. The pattern is not coming out like the picture! :(

I'm not quite sure where you are in the pattern, but it seems as if you would do 5 double crochets in the same single crochet stitch. If you're working up a shell, then it would be done in the same stitch. Thanks - AllFreeCrochet Editors

Click the link. I comes up Vogueknit. You have to join. After you do. Come back here and do it again. Then you can dl and print the pattern

I can't pull up this pattern. Any ideas?

Absolutely love the hat. I made one for my mom on mothers day. I used red heart worsted weight yarn instead and it still turns out very well. I am now making one for me with worsted weight yarn, but i think I'll shorten the brim a little. Thanks for the pattern

If you read the pattern you will see that it is crochet and not knitting. The website is for both knitting and crochet. Look again! Its really crochet. I just printed it! Yeah!

I love the look of this hat but when I follow the link the pattern is listed as a knit.

The instructions are for crochet. The top of the page does show VOGUEknitting but read on.

I love this hat but I'm not able to get the pattern!!! HELP???

The pattern is available as a PDF; you will need Adobe Reader to view it (which is free to download). Hope this helps!
