Chunky Clamshell Lace Poncho

"This gorgeous, chunky crochet poncho works up quickly with a giant Q/16mm crochet hook and super bulky (6) yarn. The light, fluffy texture of boucle yarn crocheted with a jumbo hook feels like wearing a cloud! Perfect as a cardigan for church, or wrap one of the front panels around your neck for those chilly beach walks. This piece also looks amazing with a chunky leather belt, for a chic bohemian look. You will need to be familiar with foundation double crochet, as well as my special Dc5tog decreases. (The instructions are written out, and I'm working on a chart and photo tutorial for you visual learners!) Once you get the hang of those, the pattern really isn't too tricky!"

I like this poncho for its style, color, and stitches used. It deviates from the usual poncho that we know. This one is more like a kimono but it's so elegant and chic. Any fashionista will like this.

A pretty one size shawl. I just dont like the sleeves and how they sort of have an unfinished open look. This does however give this project a very unique and different look that is very modern and stylish. I like the example picture in which the model is wearing a belt over the top of the poncho to hold it in place.

This is gorgeous, but I think I would prefer it as sweater. Has anyone made it? I'm wondering if the sides would have enough to sew some side seams in it. I just don't do well with big open, floppy stuff. It is undoubtedly GORGEOUS! I can't wait to try it.

This clamshell lace poncho pattern is beautiful. There is a lot of texture here and the open weave will allow some breeze to flow thru but still keep the chill at bay. I think the directions are really clear and even though the directions call it an intermediate pattern a beginner can make this is determined.

My sentiments exactly princess6860504. None the less this is a beautiful "shawl" because I am not seeing this as a typical poncho. I love patterns like this because they are so forgiving and can be used by almost anyone. This neutral color will go with anything in your wardrobe.

It is a little thick to wear in the summertime, just my personal opinion. For me, I can see wearing this in the fall as soon as the temps dip and the chilly breeze kicks in. Pair it with your leggings and booties and pop on a long sleeve tunic underneath! It is a great design, too. I like the four different "arms" that you can drape over the shoulders and let the others hang at the sides. You can wrap it around you in so many ways!
