Colorful Calypso Shawlette

Think of sunny skies and sand between your toes when you add the Colorful Calypso Shawlette to any outfit. Featuring variegated yarn that includes beautiful shades of yellow, green, and blue that are evocative of a day on the beach, the stylish not-quite-a-shawl, not-quite-a-scarf is a soft and airy addition to your wardrobe. The lightweight crochet shawlette (it's made using fingering yarn) and lace-like design featuring the shell stitch will keep you comfortable even in more moderate temperatures. As this easy pattern isn't time-consuming to produce, you could create multiple shawlettes.

This is so beautiful and I would love to try making it, but when I clicked on the "get pattern" it took me to a "page not found" message. Does anyone know WHERE I can find this pattern?

Hi kentuckywoman2, sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for letting us know. The link has been updated and you should now be able to see the pattern. I hope this helps! - Laura, editor of AllFreeCrochet

This calypso crochet shawlette may have gotten its name for the look of the finished product using the Impressionist color of the Knit Picks Chroma brand. It does have an island feel. It is a gorgeous piece and the yarn used really made this design look way more difficult than it is.

I guess because this is a shawlette pattern it will require less material to make. With almost 400 yards of fingerling yarn I think this still worked up to a fairly large shawl. Even though the dimensions are provided I will not get a full idea until I can see it on a person. I just adore the color used here but there are more color choices when shopping for the yarn. I am having a difficult time choice a color.

Most excellent shawlette. The blue and green colors are beautiful and accent this piece so well. Love the shell stitch border that the designer added to give it a little more flair. This looks like a fun project and should be easy enough for beginners also. Having only one pattern rows makes this easy and fast to work.

Just beautiful to look at and it really looks like you spent a bit of money on it- but you made it, instead! A simple to follow pattern comprised of single crochets, chains, and skips, I think an advanced beginner can do this with just a little bit of practice. Wear it fall all the way through spring!

If youre a fan of open work and the shell stitch, this is just the project for you. The instructions as easy to follow, repetitive enough to get into a nice rhythm, and available as a print out or .pdf file. I took advantage of that feature and am happy to report this pattern is now safely in my Shawls file for future use.
