This is a perfect beginner project that is made with super bulky yarn which makes very large stitches and will work up very quickly. I like making pillow covers / cases because they can be removed for cleaning without unsewing anything then popped right back on. They are also easy to change up when needed.

This gives me an idea, as far as adding my own bit of personal flair to this chunky crochet pillow. Wouldn't it look so feminine to add an extra wide fabric ribbon, woven along the bottom of the pillow, then tied on the side in a big, beautiful bow? That could be the pillow cover closure. I can see this as a reversible red and green pillow with a plaid bow for Christmas.
