Comfy Crochet Cushions

Make three different sizes of these Comfy Crochet Cushions by Premier Yarns to satisfy all of your kids and pets. Perfect for playing video games or as a pet bed, these cushions add a unique piece to your home decor. You can even just use them as a foot rest when you want to kick back and relax. With yarn colors like Wild Animal and Cheetah, these crochet cushions almost look like they belong in the jungle. Spend time working up these cushions so that you can spend even more time lounging around on them.

Intermediate

Crochet HookK/10.5 or 6.5 mm hook

Yarn Weight(5) Bulky/Chunky (12-15 stitches for 4 inches)

    • Cheetah (8 balls, small cushion)
    • Cherry Spot (12 balls, medium cushion)
    • Wild Animal (16 balls, large cushion)
  • Crochet Hook (Size K/10.5, 6.5mm)
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Polyester Stuffing (several large bags)
  • Sewing Needle
  • Button Thread

GAUGE:
10 sc x 10 rows = 4"

PATTERN NOTES:
If using cushion as a dog bed, make project washable by sewing a fabric lining for the stuffing. Then on final Joining Rnd, insert an 18” zipper to make lining removable. Finally sew Buttons onto the Top and Bottom separately, rather than through Cushion.

Ch 192 (216, 240), sl st to join in the rnd, being careful not to twist chain.

Work as for Top. When Joining Rnd is ¾ of the way around, pause and stuff Cushion firmly, then finish Joining Rnd as for Top. 

FINISHING
Button (make 2)
Rnd 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hk, sl st in 1st sc to join – 6 sc. 
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc, sl st in 1st sc to join – 12 sc. 
Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc, sl st in 1st sc to join – 24 sc. 
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in each sc, sl st in 1st sc to join – 24 sc. 
Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc2tog around, sl st in 1st sc to join – 12 sc.

Thread tail through remaining sc, pull snug to close hole. 

Using sewing needle and button thread, sew buttons to center Top and center Bottom, sewing through the Cushion to create a tuft in the center.

These "Comfy Crochet Cushions" look very professional. I would love to make the biggest one, where I'd be required to buy 16 skeins of Deborah Norville Premier. That is a whole lot of yarn. Might have to budget this out, maybe buy 5-6 skeins at a time to avoid going broke. It's super easy to understand, with just the usual round increases. I like that the sides are gusseted. The addition of the button in the center adds that extra touch!
