I love the pocket on this charity pocket lapghan. It is such a great idea, especially for people in a nursing home or hospital. The pocket can hold anything for them, and they hopefully will not lose it that way. The colors used here would be perfect for me, but you could use any combination of colors you want to make this gift special for someone.

This lapghan incorporates two clever ideas. The first are the ties that keep the lapghan in place. Im wondering if a long tab and button might not be better as the ties might get tangled in the wheel itself. The pocket is a great idea, but I would make it slightly larger. You also need to put the lapghan in place before deciding exactly where to locate the pocket.

Love the pocket idea! I have been putting pockets on my lapghans for seniors and my husband thought it was silly! My folks were in assisted living so I watched a lot of ladies fumble for a hankie stash! I never put a closing flap on mine because of this.

I wanted to make this for a friend who is wheelchair bound. I am not understanding where the pocket or the ties go. Does it tie at the bottom or at the top? Does the pocket face the person so it would be upside down to us if we were standing in front of the person? please help

The ties go at the top so to tie to the wheelchair arms to hold the lapghan in place and not fall off. The pocket would also be at the top in the center, but no the pocket would not be upside down to you if you are standing in front of the person. If you are standing in front of them, it should look like a regular pocket to you.

Another way of thinking about this is that it's just like an apron. The ties at the top, and the pocket conveniently located with the opening up toward the "waistband."
