Whimsical Fox Mittens

Just like the name says, these Whimsical Fox Mittens are perfect for your outdoorsy kids. In fact, you can find the pattern in enough sizes for the whole family if you want. That would be the perfect accessory for everyone when you go on your next camping trip or you're just roasting marshmallows outside by the fire. Either way, these crochet mittens are super fun and friendly, and will make sure to keep those hands toasty warm, too. Have a little fun with your outdoor gear by working up these whimsical animal mittens.

Easy

Crochet HookK/10.5 or 6.5 mm hook

Yarn Weight(5) Bulky/Chunky (12-15 stitches for 4 inches)

Crochet Gauge8 sc and 9 rows = 4" [10 cm]

Finished SizeTo fit width around palm: 2/4 yrs 5" [13 cm]. 6/8 yrs 6" [15 cm]. Adult 8" [20.5 cm].

  • Bernat Softee Chunky: Main Color (MC) Pumpkin (28630) and Contrast A Black (28040), 1 ball each for each size
  • Size U.S. K/10 (6.5 mm) crochet hook
  • Stitch marker
  • Small amount of Bernat Pipsqueak Whitey White (59005) for embroidery

Notes

The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus (). When only one number is given in black, it applies to all sizes. When joining colors, work to last 2 loops on hook of first color. Draw new color through last 2 loops and proceed.

Right Mitten

**Cuff: With MC, ch 6 (6-7). 1st row: (RS). Working in back loops only, 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sl st in each ch across. Turn. 4th row: Ch 1. Sc2tog. Fasten off. FINISHING With Bernat Pipsqueak and using satin stitch, embroider cheeks as shown in photo. Sew Ears to Mittens as shown in photo. With A, embroider eyes as shown in photo.
