Moon Dance Mittens

"This moon dance mitten pattern with a ribbed cuff and textured fabric is such a fun project! It is a great pattern for those still new to crochet - very beginner friendly. It was first designed by Heather from the Unraveled Mitten exclusively for the Sewrella blog! This is an intermediate level crochet pattern, and the techniques you will need to know are single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, back loop only, front and back post double crochet, half double crochet 2 together, Chain stitch, and slip stitch."

This is a nice pattern for mittens, and while I do like wearing them as theyre much warmer than most gloves, I am not very good at making them. I get the body of the mittens just fine, but those thumbs can give me fits. I usually get the first one set okay, but for some reason, I have all sorts of problems with the second one. Anyone have any handy hints?

Quite an unusual progression of stitches in the Moon Dance mittens. It kind of swings sideways as it heads toward the cuff. It's worked from the tip of the fingers first, in the round, and then the thumb is added at the end. She'es even gone so far as to give us very specific measurements for the mittens, which is helpful when gifting.
