This wave pattern has been one of my favorites since I first came across it in a hat project called Brainwave. It only uses the most basic stitches, yet it creates a fascinating look. This project adds to the overall texture by including Post stitches, too. The original blanket is a good size for a baby, but the designer does give instructions on how to adjust the size if desired.

It is that time of the year. It seems like someone somewhere is expecting to have a baby soon. For those of us that are last minute at gift giving, this is the perfect pattern to make ahead and have ready. Quick simple and the recipient will love the fact you thought enough to create something home made.

With the creation of these self-striping bulky yarns the ability to give a home made gift just became less stressful. There are a lot of colors to chose from and they are not very expensive so after giving of the most precious thing, self, you can gift a great present.

This baby afghan is comprised of a clever combination of groups of single crochets and groups of double crochets, plus combining regular stitches and BACK LOOP ONLY stitches. It creates this beautiful soothing "wave" of colors creeping across the blankie. It is so inviting! Let me have ti to cuddle up with with my baby. That I don't have. But that's okay. I can make it bigger to fit my lap.
