This is a magnificent example of a nearly lost art. Even when I was a little girl, just about the only people who crocheted doilies were grandmas. Who else had the time? They werent just decorative either. Does anyone else remember what an antimacassars is? Watch just about any TV or movie from the 1950s and youll see plenty adorning the backs of upholstered furniture.

It is wonderful to still see people creating designs for doilies. To me aside from afghan patterns, doilies are a traditional crochet project. The new designers are bringing crochet out of the dark ages with really cool designs and patterns. This one as usual will stand the true test of time because of its beauty and simplicity.

This is just beautiful. I was able to get the pattern to print without any problems. My Mom would have adored this pattern. She had a thing for pineapples. It has been a while since I have thought about all of her work and this doilies reminded me of her. Thanks for sharing.

I just finished this using a red thread. It's not too difficult until you get to the outer part. One thing you need to do, is count the stitches. Check as you go along that everything lines up. It's beautiful. I love more difficult patterns.

its a pdf file and will not print

Hi darlajean, I was able to get this file to print just fine - once it's open, right click and click on Print and that should do it! Julia, AFC editor

It look lovely. I would love to get this translated into swedish......but I guess that takes to much time )

WHY CAN'T I GET THIS PATTERN?

Hi kevstejea, It looks like the pattern URL was entered incorrectly. I've gone ahead and updated it, so clicking on "Click here for free pattern" will take you right to the pattern page. Just be sure to refresh your page. Thanks! Julia, editor for AllFreeCrochet
