"Your Nanas doilies fell sadly out of fashion for a few decades. Now doilies are back with a vengeance reimagined as these bright, pretty mandalas. This mandala is named Matahari, the Indonesian word for sun. All you need is one or more colours of your favourite 4 or 8 ply cottons, a hook and some pretty beads to hook yourself a modern day doily! (as well as a needle for sewing in ends and thread to sew some beads on). This pattern has bright photos making it easy to follow!"

I dont really think of mandalas as doilies, but I suppose they are. This is a real beauty, and deserves a better place than just under a potted plant or as a rug for your favorite guinea pig! The designer takes you through each step of the project with round by round photos. She also includes a photo showing how to block the finished mandala, something she considers a crucial step.
