The Granite Cape

Although it is called The Granite Cape, this beautiful pattern is anything but rigid. So named for the granite stitch (which you might know as the moss stitch), this crochet cape features a beautiful design as well as elegance and sophistication. The stylish collar instantly dresses up any outfit that you wear with the crochet cape, so go ahead and throw this on over a pair of jeans and a T-shirt before meeting your friends for brunch next weekend. This cape will also be the perfect accompaniment to your little black dress or similar dressy outfit this fall and winter.

NotesThe blogger recommends creating the granite stitch in a small swatch before embarking on the project.

This is my kind of clothing article. I am a huge fan of items that are oversized because I am a true believer in modesty. This crochet cape is that if not anything else. The up close photos really show you the texture of the pattern. I now see that the name granite is for the stitch used and not for the color.

Thanks ever so much for all of the pictures provided in the directions of the granite crochet cape. I totally agree with the designer in that this cape drapes beautifully without being constricting. I love pieces like this because of the modesty factor and I can totally see me in this in a deep blue or vibrant red instead of the grey.

Very prettVery pretty. This cape looks so warm. The designer gives great directions in her instructions and makes it so easy to follow along. I dont remember ever seeing the name granite stitch before, but I do recall hearing moss stitch a very long time ago. The patterning on the stitches looks great.

Oh my gosh, I love this The Granite Cape! I never knew that the combo of the single crochet stitch with a chain stitch had a name. The Granite/Moss Stitch. Cool! Anyways back to the pattern, what can I say but wow. This pattern is the best I have seen yet, with tons of pictures and written how to do the whole thing. She even has a video link in there on how to do the stitch. Every one can make this great look Granite Cape with her pattern. I need to go and buy the yarn and make this one for sure! The weave of the fabric will be great to wear this fall. I wish there was a print tab!! Thank you so much for sharing this free crochet pattern.

Wow! Probably one of my most favorite clothing pieces I have come across, ever. She's really good at explaining how to construct the piece with lots and lots of pictures and easy to understand instructions- all this aside from the pattern itself! It is beautiful. I cannot wait to wear this soon!
