Crochet Waffle Stitch

Aptly named, the crochet waffle stitch is one of the most recognizable crochet stitches around. In this crochet stitch tutorial video, you will learn how to create the easy waffle crochet stitch. It's a fun texture that looks great on scarves and blankets (it's also thick, which helps add warmth to winter patterns) but can be used on so many other projects, too, such as baskets and bags. Once you learn this tasty-looking stitch, you will want to use it on your next crochet project. If you're new to crocheting and looking for beginner crochet stitches, this tutorial will help you learn an intricate stitch that looks much harder than it is.

Isn't this the same waffle stitch look that we see in all those blankets and throws at the big box stores and department stores? How cool is that to be able to learn how to do this on your own!? It is also idea for those dish cloths and wash cloths, in my opinion.

I did not give this a one star rating, so I do not know why it shows that! Just so we're clear.

This is one of the more textural stitches, and although it looks complicated, its actually fairly easy. If youre not familiar with this stitch, by all means watch this short video. The little swatch thats included with this post is just the right size for a small scrubber pad. If thats what youd like to do, Id recommend using cotton yarn. Acrylic will also work, and you can make your project a little bigger by adjusting the initial row.
