I know that this hoooked tote is made with the hooked ribbon but it would also be beautiful in regular yarn as well. I know I would love to make this with the hooked yarn and I have already started my online search for the item. Thanks for the free pattern.

One look at this bag with those spiral motifs, and I was instantly blasted back to the 60s. I havent seen that Hoooked yarn anywhere, but there are some other yarns out there that mimic that classic double knit look. I know Ive seen some recycled yarns. Actually, this might be a case where Plarn might work. I know just the stores where I can get bags in these colors.

What I love about surfing the site here at All Free Crochet, I am always stumbling across something new. No, a tote is not new but the medium used to create it is new to me. I have never heard of the Hoooked Ribbon and I honestly thought it was a typo to start with. Here I go on another expedition. I just have to make this.

Our newly expanded JoAnns just opened last week, and I had to go out of town and couldn't explore it. Plenty of time this week!

The pattern is easy enough to follow for a beginner and the yarn used makes this bag stand out even more. It says it's ribbon yarn but it looks a lot like a fabric yarn so I think it would be easy to substitute with red heart strata or bernat hom dec or even home made t shirt yarn.

This tote bag looks like it is made from straw, but it is in fact made from a yarn that is 80% recycled cotton and 20% something else... So it will be soft to the touch. I can see this bag in a hot pink and green combo and it will look just as nice and make an impact just the same. Easy pattern to follow, using just single crochets, chains and skips.
