"The Latent Heart Square is a 12 inch crochet square, perfect for an afghan. Crochet yours in as many colors as you like, or in a single color, if you wish, it’s completely up to you. You can also crochet this Latent Heart Square in two colors while highlighting the "heart" in the square. This will make a great Valentine's throw to decorate your home. Depending on the color or colors you select to make this latent heart 12" square pattern you can wind up with two completely different looking designs. As a solid color it is really pretty but by changing up the colors in the design, you get a whole different perspective on the beauty of this square.

It appears to me that 12 inch squares are becoming more and more popular. I keep running across them when looking over new designs and pattern ideas. I save them all when I do find them on line. My goal is to make one of all of them. I would call that a lofty goal wouldn't you?

These 12 inch square projects are so much fun. This particular design is shown in both the solid and multicolored scrap buster versions, but I think using different colors really shows off the intricate stitch sequences. I like the various colors the designer has chosen, but if you use more traditional Valentine colors, you could really make those little hearts pop!
