This is an easy mile a minute afghan that you work up in strips and you'll probably only spend about a day on it. Maybe you have nothing to do on a Saturday or Sunday, whip out some yarn and hooks and you'll have this beautiful and cozy blanket in no time at all. Plus, a beginner can crochet this pattern, so don't feel limited by your skill.
Crochet HookK/10.5 or 6.5 mm hook
Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)
Crochet Gauge11 sts = 4; Rounds 1-2 = 3 wide.

- RED HEART® “Super Saver®”: 3 balls 382 Country Blue - A, 5 balls 316 Soft White - B.
- Crochet Hook: 6.5mm [US K-10½]
- Yarn needle
Stripe (Make 7)
With A, ch 194.
Round 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, [skip next ch, dc in next ch, dc in skipped ch (crossed dc made)] across to last 2 ch, dc in next ch, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in last ch, ch 2, turn to work along opposite edge of foundation ch, dc in next 2 ch, work between  to last 2 ch, dc in next ch, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in base of beginning ch, ch 2, join with slip st in top of beginning ch. Fasten off.
Round 2: Join B before first crossed dc along one length of Round 1, ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in same space, *[work 2 dc between each set of crossed dc] across to first corner ch-2 space, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in corner ch-2 space, skip next 2 dc, (3 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next corner ch-2 space; repeat from * around, slip st in top of beginning ch.
Round 3: Slip st in next dc, ch 1, sc in same dc, sc in top of ch-3 (crossed sc made), *[skip next dc, sc in next dc, sc in skipped dc (crossed sc made)] across to first corner ch-2 space, (2 sc, ch 2, sc) in corner ch-2 space, sc in each of next 6 dc, (sc, ch 2, 2 sc) in next corner ch-2 space; repeat from * across, work between  to first sc, slip st in first sc to join. Fasten off.
Strip Side Border
Row 1: With right side facing and working along one long edge, join A in corner ch-2 space, ch 1, sc in corner ch-2 space, sc in next 4 sc, *dc between next 2 corresponding sets of crossed dc on Round 2, pulling dc to current level of work, skip corresponding st, sc in next sc; repeat from * across to 2 sc from corner, sc in next 2 sc, sc in corner ch-2 space.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. Fasten off.
Row 3: With right side facing, join B in first sc, ch 1, work crossed sc across. Fasten off.
Row 4: With right side facing, join B in first sc, ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in each sc across. Fasten off.
Row 5: With right side facing, join B in top of beginning ch-3, ch 1, sc in next dc, sc in top of beginning ch 3 (first crossed sc made), work in crossed sc across. Fasten off.
Repeat Rows 1-5 along opposite length edge of Strip.
Finishing - Border
With right sides together and long edges of 2 strips aligned, join B and slip st Strips together on wrong side. Repeat to join all 7 Strips.
Round 1: With right side facing, join B in first sc from top left corner, (ch 3, dc) in same st, *dc in each st to 1 st before corner, 2 dc in next st, turn to work along short edge, 3 dc in first st, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 13 sts, 2 dc in next st, dc in next st, [dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 13 sts, 2 dc in next st, dc in next st] across to 1 st before corner, 3 dc in next st, turn to work along opposite long edge; repeat from *, slip st in top of beginning ch to join.
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in next dc, (ch 3, slip st in last dc made, *dc in next 2 dc, (ch 3, slip st in last dc made); repeat from * around, slip st in top of beginning ch to join. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
