Vests are not my thing but my co worker wears them just about twice to three times a week. I can not recall ever seeing her in one anything like this but she will be getting one from me. With such an easy design, I can't wait to surprise her on her birthday in October.

The play on words looped me for a second. A hippie granny in one sentence? I see that the vest is made from granny squares and it has a hippie vibe. I love it. Not loving the color so much but I just love the vest.

This little piece doesnt remind me so much of my ancient Hippie days as part of an Indian costume I made for a play my children were in. If you want to go that route and make this a cosplay piece, add pony beads to the fringe, and work the dark granny squares in something more vibrant. Most tribes favored certain colors for their clothing, so a bit of research might be fun, too.

Oh wow and far out! I am having a seventies Brady Bunch flashback looking at that vest. How awesome is that? What a great boho accessory to add to my wardrobe. The open back summer vest the designer shows with this pattern is a great modern vest. Love them both.

What a nice story behind the inspiration to the creation of this vest. I believe crochet is a highly personal thing. At first I thought this was like a costume for kids, but I see her wearing it with a pair of blue jeans and her cute booties. I'd pair the vest with a long tunic and leggings, with either booties or tall leather boots. This would look cool in a black, gray, and white combo, too!
