This looks like such a beautiful afghan. Using an N hook and super bulky yarn, this afghan would work up really quickly. If you do not want to use the Eskimo yarn, you could use Bernat. Bernat blanket yarn is super bulky also, and you can get it in a variety of colors to still be able to make it in these colors.

This is going on my to do list. It's early enough in the year that I can make it as a present for Christmas. I just have to decide on the color combos I want to use. My friend just repainted her bedroom so I want it to fit the color theme.

I wish I could see what the color option number two looks like. There is no picture of that one, not that I could see anywhere. However, that being said, the sunset colors with the brown anchor color is simply stunning to look at. I don't shop for yarn at pricey boutiques or online- so I am wondering what you all think would be a substitute for the DROPS Eskimo yarn, one that I could find at a big box craft store...?

Hi princess, The image should be showing now! Julia, editor for AllFreeCrochet

There are so many absolutely beautiful blankets, throws, afghans on allfreecrochet.com that I am usually quite unable to choose which one to make next and this stunning design is another one which I simply HAVE to add my list of things to make. The colors alone have made me smile, which after a less than good day, is just awesome, lol!

I just finished a sweater and had over two skeins of yarn left. I was thinking I needed to find a pattern that I could work to bust my stash a little and happened on this pattern. I like it because I can make it in individual pieces and hook together at the end. I will probably use worsted weight yarn so I will need more shapes, but I can't wait to start crocheting. Thanks for finding the pattern!
