Changing Yarn Colors

If you are not comfortable carrying your working yarn between Rounds, you can fasten off after each Zigzag Round and join your new color between the starting chain and the post of the first DC.

  1. To carry your working yarn, change colors when you slip stitch to join at the end of the Round: insert your hook in the top of the starting chain, yarn over with the accent color and pull through all loops on the hook.  Leave the main color hanging inside the hat and continue working around. When you get to the end of the round, repeat these steps to change back to the main color.

Cute hat, love the chevron zigzag design, and LOVE that the entire thing can be found right here on this page. NO clicking an external link that is flooded with pop-up ads and stuff like that. I am thinking that babies and toddlers, along with older folks would probably get the most use out of this hat. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with Hippie Chick that this is probably too warm for the middle of summer, although wouldnt it be adorable worked in red, white and blue cotton? I appreciate that the designer gives complete instructions for all the sizes separately. Its so much easier for me to copy and paste specific sizes for my students. Sometimes its hard to follow when all the sizes are mixed up.

This is a cute hat, but looks a little too warm to wear in the heat of the summer. This hat would work a lot better in the cooler months. I love Bernat cotton yarns. They are so soft and come in an almost endless variety of colors. Baby will be styling when wearing this hat.
