Classic Heritage Hat

"The Classic Heritage Hat is a free crochet pattern that uses the traditional Waistcoat Stitch to create a beautiful knit-look fabric. This hat is worked from the bottom up in one piece with Medium Worsted Weight Yarn and a 6 mm (J) crochet hook. The pattern is easy to follow and includes photo tutorials to help you learn how to make the Waistcoat Stitch. A video tutorial is also available. The Waistcoat Stitch is made by working between the legs of each stitch, creating a tight and structured fabric that looks similar to knitting. This stitch is special to me because it played an important part in my early days as a crochet designer. I first found the stitch in an old book listed as the "New Chain Stitch" and have loved using it in my designs ever since. The Classic Heritage Hat includes seven sizes: 6-12 months, 12-24 months, 3-5 years, Child (6-10 years), Teen (Adult Small), Adult Medium, and Adult Large. This makes it easy to crochet a hat that fits anyone on your list. The pattern also mixes Waistcoat Stitches with simple single crochet stitches to keep it easy to make and fun to crochet. This free crochet pattern was designed as part of the International Crochet Blog Hop with Underground Crafter. It is a great project if you want to try the Waistcoat Stitch in a simple and practical way. You can find the full free pattern with step-by-step photos on my website."
