The Narrow Steps (Apache Tears) Hat is made using the crochet stitch known as "Apache tears" which comes with a very detailed tutorial on how to crochet this beautiful stitch. The hat was designed as part of a winter accessory crochet along. The hat pattern can be adjusted to any hat size as the multiple is given and a reference guide provided. The hat features bright and brilliant Christmas colors such as red, green, and white. Having used worsted weighted yarn it makes the perfect winter hat.

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

I have another pattern that uses Apache Tears, but this one using Christmas colors is just delightful. Working each color in three rows really sets off each color and texture combination. The designer also provides a link to her Apache Tears tutorial (both flat and in the round) as well as another link explaining how to properly alter a hat pattern to any size. Bookmark this one!

I am loving this Christmas ski hat! I can see the whole family wearing these matching hats. Now, it is not only for Christmas. How about using the Apache tears stitch pattern in your team colors like navy, orange and white or blue, green and white? This is a versatile pattern and is suitable for both women and men
