Front Post and Back Post Double Crochet Stitch

This Crochet a Front Post and Back Post Double Stitch how-to video is an excellent left-handed tutorial to show you how to get this great pattern. For this specific crochet stitch you are going to work around the post of the stitches instead of working through, or into, the stitches. This crochet video will show you not only how easy it is to make this stitch, but also how these stitches creat a great closed-stitch pattern. This is particularly great for making a crochet hat that will keep you nice and snuggly all winter long!

Instructions for the Front Post and Double Back Post Crochet Stitch

  1. Start by having one row of stitches after your chain complete.

  2. Yarn over and insert your hook from the front to the back around the post, yarn over and pull up a loop.

  3. Complete the stitch like you are completing a double crochet stitch. (i.e. yarn over pull through two, yarn over pull through two more).

  4. For the back post double crochet, yarn over insert your hook from the back to the front around the post, yarn over and pull up a loop.

  5. Complete this stitch like a double crochet stitch as well. (i.e. yarn over pull through two and yarn over pull through two more.)

  6. Alternate between these two stitches until you complete your project.

I can't thank you enough for all the left handed tutorials. I am trying to teach a friend how to crochet and completely forgot she is left handed. Chaining was easy, and explaining certain things was also but when it came to some fancier stitches I was at a loss. These tutorials did the trick. Thanks again for posting them.
