Crochet Rose

"This crochet rose is fast and easy to make. It uses basic stitches and you can adjust the size by changing the hook size. Any size hook can be used just make sure it is appropriate to the weight of the yarn. Here I used a J hook. Theses roses are great for embellishing your projects. Add them to hats, scarfs, blankets, headbands, etc. They dress up your plain garments as well."

So many ways to use a large flower such as this one. I can see me making at least a dozen of these in a decor-matching color scheme and placing them inside a pretty globe-shaped clear vase. It would create visual interest on my sofa table or the end table. Yes, it is an out-of-the-box way to use them, but that is how my brain thinks!

Much to my surprise, this is not your standard rolled rose pattern. You start with a chain but you could easily use a Foundation Half Double instead. Whats really different is how the designer treats the actual petals. With the base divided into thirds, each section is worked with progressively larger petals (3-5-7 DC respectively). When rolled, this makes a more realistic blossom.
