The up close picture of this beginner shells crochet blanket tells me right away that the yarn selected is the perfect choice for a soft blankie. I can just see my all snug as a bug in a rug in my reading nook. Considering a different color choice but I love the yarn itself.

This shells crochet blanket looks like it may be up there in skill level, not a beginner. The directions display only six rows of crochet and I guess once you master those six you got it made. This is a beautiful blanket. Thanks for the share.

The Sweet Yarn by Red Heart used in this pattern has been discontinued. It is available in limited supplies and limited colors at a few sites that I have found online. It is a super-thick and plush chenille yarn with a weight of 7, so you may have difficulty sizing this pattern unless you can find a good alternate.

I don't know if I would label this project for beginners. The yarn has a specific way it wants to behave. When you run out of the color and need to add another ball, she gives a video of a step by step on the proper way to add it. I would never bother with this as a beginner. Yikes. It would scare me away! The blanket itself is nice, though.

I am really loving all the beginner and easy afghan and throw patterns at the moment and this one is definitely high up on my list of favorites! The lovely chunky Red Heart Sweet yarn is going to make a deliciously snug and cozy blanket and with the large crochet hook it is going to crochet up in no time at all. Winter is just around the corner here in the southern hemisphere and I am definitely going to spend time cuddled up under this blanket on the sofa!
