Perhaps a person with so called athletic calves and ankles could just size up one in the hook size and feel confident that these will fit comfortably. I am basing that on the poster below's comment about them being just a little bit too tight. But the color is right on! I have a pair of camel short boots and these pumpkin spice beauties will do just fine.

I crocheted these and they look fantastic but fit a little bit tight. Is there a good method for stretchier edges?

Does the pattern call for a foundation single crochet or a foundation double crochet to start with, versus a chain to start? It makes all the different in the stretchability.
