Celebrate Cozies

"A few summers ago, my husband and I hosted a cookout for family and friends on the 4th of July. This was when the design for the "Celebrate" Cozy & Coffee Sleeve came to me. I designed them for their practical use, but loved the extra touch of decor they added to the day. Have you ever been to a cookout in the middle of the summer when it's nearing 100 degrees, or more? You need the ice cold beverages to keep hydrated and cool in the heat, but find the sweating bottles and cans annoying. You find yourself carrying around napkins to keep your hands dry. There's a simple solution for this, make yourself a cozy in cotton yarn! The cotton will help insulate the can and it will absorb the sweat."

I just love these. I have company over all the time and I have in the past when out and purchased those foam cozies to use during gatherings. I have made a few crochet cozies and I am on the hunt for more. (I am not a fan of making multiples of anything) I can't want to make these to add to the collection. Just in time for the 4th of July.

It is difficult to decide which cozy I like the most so I guess i will have to make both of them. I like the one that will fit around the coffee mug. I made one that celebrates Easter not long ago and all the people in my office just loved it. I can't wait to make my appearance with this one.

I can think of so many ways to gift these can and bottle cozies. Give a wicker or canvas picnic basket- tucked inside are the cozies you are making, a set of patriotic coasters (that you can make yourself, too!), matching paper napkins and plastic cutlery. This website gives me so much inspiration for my own gifting ideas, and even more inspiration for making my own crocheted stuff, and I just really appreciate all that.

This set of projects came along just in the nick of time. My retired Navy brother in law has a birthday close to July 4th, so they always plan a patriotic birthday for him. I was struggling to work up a beer bottle cozy and not having much success. This pattern is perfectthe Linked Double stitch makes each stripe look like its made from tiny stars. The coffee sleeve also uses the same technique, so no matter which you choose, youll get plenty of practice!
