Sparkly Poinsettia Brooch

Crochet HookG/6 or 4 mm hook

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

MATERIALS:

  • Worsted Weight Sparkly Yarn
  • Size US G Hook
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Glittered Holly Berries (cut from decorative floral bouquet)
  • Aleene's Fabric Stiffener
  • Fabric Fusion
  • Pearl Pin (optional)


Abbreviations
ch=chain
sc=single crochet
dc=double crochet
tr=triple crochet
hdc=half-double crochet

DIRECTIONS:
Large Petals (Make 5):
Ch 8. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc, dc, tr, dc, hdc, sc. Tie off.

Small Petals (Make 5):
Ch 8. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc, hdc, dc, hdc, 2sc. Tie off.

Finishing:
Sew large petals together in a star formation. Do the same with the small petals. Center small petal bunch on to of large one; tack in place to create flower.
Using your finger, spread a liberal amount of Fabric Stiffener over flower. Shape and let dry.
Use Fabric Fusion to glue glittered holly berries to center of flower. Let dry.

Pin to your favorite bag, coat or beanie!

These are so pretty! I think these would be a breath of Christmas cheer for the folks in the senior centers, the nursing homes, and even perhaps those who are stuck in the hospital for the holidays. I wish I could deliver these by hand to spread Christmas cheer. Because, they really couldn't be easier to make. I like the use of the fabric glue instead of a hot glue gun. Thanks for the pretty poinsettias!
