"Hello everyone, Christmas is just around the corner. I like to make these Christmas themed granny squares each year. You can do alot with them, Make a blanket out of them, a table runner, or even use them as ornaments. This year I made the stocking. After a few failed trials, I finally came with one that I liked. Materials: Yarn: Ayda Hilal 100% Acrylic 100 grams / 235 mt in colors HLL224 , HLL240 and HLL202. Hook: 3 mm Tapestry needle Measurements: 14 cm / 5.5 inch X 14 cm / 5.5 inch Abbreviations: SC: single crochet DC: double crochet HDC: half double crochet CH: chain SL ST: slip stitch"

Crochet HookD/3 or 3.25 mm hook

Yarn Weight(3) Light/DK (21-24 stitches to 4 inches)

This is so cute. My first thought was that this clever square would be so nice as part of a Christmas themed patchwork afghan, and then I find a few more squares at the bottom of the page. The designer takes you though each step of the stocking (shes assuming you can already work the square). It would be a cute novelty pin, too, although I would work the white top with Pipsqueak yarn instead of plain worsted.

This is such a great project. First of all it's so easy to make, it takes very little yarn, makes up quickly and think of the many ways you can use this. Of course as an afghan patch, or table runner but what about just the stocking part as an ornament for the tree or packages?
