When I first saw this pattern on offer, I was intrigued by how the author managed to get the ball shape without using a pre-made form. I thought it might have been a balloon (Ive made the sugar dipped string ornaments before), and sure enough, I was right! What did surprise me was that it was done in two pieces crocheted together rather than using decreasing stitches. This does make it a prettier and more even ball.
