Easy Two Hour Mohair Cowl

 Easy Two Hour Mohair Cowl
Easy Two Hour Mohair Cowl

"This beautiful cowl is so soft and elegant! Your friends will think you bought it at a fancy boutique! I worked this beauty up sitting at a pool party in less than two hours, and only used one ball of yarn, so it's really a one skein project as well. The yarn I used had about a 15% content of Mohair, and was on the fine side at a weight of three. I'm sure any weight yarn would work for this pattern, but I would aim for a lighter yarn!

Crochet HookJ/10 or 6 mm hook

Yarn Weight(3) Light/DK (21-24 stitches to 4 inches)

Crochet GaugeNot important for this project

Finished SizeApproximately 40 Inches

Materials List

  • J/10 or 6mm hook
  • 1 Skein (60g) worsted weight 3 yarn with approx.15% mohair content
  • tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • scissors

With J Hook, chain 28
Row 1: In 6th chain from hook, place (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc). Sk 5 sts, (2dc, ch 3, 2dc), rpt 3 more times until there are 4 chains left. Place a dc in the last chain. Chain 3, turn.
Rows 2-40: (2dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in ch 3 from previous round. Repeat 4 times and dc in last chain st. Chain 3, turn.
Do not fasten off yarn.

You now have a wide piece and we are going to fold it in half and seam it up! With RS facing (you willhide and loose tails of yarn on the inside this way), With your j hook, slip stitch or sc down the side of the piece. Do not fasten off. Pull the tube from the inside out, so that now the RS will be on the outside and sl st the ends together. Weave in and loose tails and Voila! You have a beautiful Mohair Cowl!
