Murphy's Pizza Dog Rug

search

You'll love making this easy crochet rug! Wouldn't this look cute in your kitchen or make the perfect gift for someone?

From the blogger: "A friend of mine found a small dog, who was hanging out in front of the Murphy's Pizza here in town. They took him to the veterinarian. After no chip or owner was found, they decided to keep him and call him Murphy. He is a Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix and is adorable. Because he was found in front of Murphy's Pizza, she asked me to make him a pizza rug or mat to lay on. And this is what I came up with."

NotesThe rug is stitched using three strands of yarn held together. This makes a sturdy but soft rug.

What a fun project for a pet owner! I was charmed by Murphys story, and as the mom of several rescued pets of various species, I can relate to wanting to spoil a pet who has had a rough start. Doubling the yarn will not only allow the rug to hold up in the wash, but also for the inevitable scratch-turn in a few circles-scratch again before settling down for a snooze.
