Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Crochet GaugeA 4 inch X 4 inch block consists of 15 rows and 17 stitches.

Finished Sizeapproximately 9 inches X 40 inches complete.

Materials List

  • White Caron One Pound less than 1 Skein or approximately 225 yards.
  • Sky blue Caron One Pound less than 1 Skein or approximately 175 yards.
  • Grey Heather Red Heart less than 1 Skein or approximately 100 yards.
  • Size H crochet hook
  • yarn needle
  • scissors

Instructions

  1. Starting with the white yarn. Ch 160.

  2. Row 1: SC in 4th CH from hook, *ch 1, SK ST, SC in next ST. Repeat from * across, ending with a SC in last ST.

  3. Rows 2-37: CH 2, SC in first CH-1 SP in previous row (Note: not in the stitch itself, but in the space that was created by the CH. To do this, insert your hook in the space, yarn over and pull through the yarn and complete your SC), *CH 1, Skip 1 ST, SC in next SP. Repeat from * to last CH where you end with a SC, turn.

  4. Finishing: Weave in all loose ends and cut off excess yarn.

Stitch colors for the rows

  1. Beginning chain stitch 160 White stitches

  2. Rows 1-5: 160 White stitches

  3. Rows 6-10: 40 White, 80 Blue, 40 White stitches

  4. Rows 11-15: 160 White stitches

  5. Rows 16-17: 50 White, 60 Grey, 50 White stitches

  6. Rows 18-19: 40 White, 80 Grey, 40 White stitches

  7. Rows 20-21: 50 White, 60 Grey, 50 White stitches

  8. Rows 22-26: 160 White stitches

  9. Rows 27-31: 40 White, 80 Blue, 40 White stitches

  10. Rows 32-37: 160 White stitches
