"This pretty two toned hat celebrates the sun and the moon. Any child would love to wear this adorable bright beanie. The knit look is fabulous, and because it is crocheted it is a very quick and easy pattern that you can make in an evening while watching your favorite TV program. I made the hat with Impeccable yarn by Loops and Threads in Butterscotch and Aran but any worsted weight yellow and white yarn will do. Enjoy!"

Materials List

  • 5.5 MM crochet hook
  • 65mm PomPom maker

  2. Row 1: Sk 1st Ch and Blsc into next 36 Chs leaving last 4 stitches unworked. Ch1. Turn.

  3. Row 2: Blsc in each St across. Ch1. Turn.

  4. Row 3: Blsc in each St including the 4 stitches not worked in previous row. (hint: Pull tightly when working the last 4 stitches to minimize any gap in your work.) Ch1. Turn.

  5. Row 4: Blsc in each St across. Ch1. Turn.

  6. Row 5: Blsc in first 36 Sts, leaving last 4 Sts unworked. Ch1. Turn.

  7. Rows 6-27: Repeat rows 2-5, ending with row 3.

  8. Rows 28-54: Join Aran yarn and starting with row 4, continue working in pattern for another 27 rows ending with Row 2. You will have 54 rows in total.

  9. Join the last row of Aran to the first Row of Butterscotch with SC. Fasten off leaving an 8 inch tail.

  10. With a tapestry needle, run the yarn around the top of the hat drawing it closed. Weave in all ends.

Turn hat right side out and roll the bottom of the hat to make a brim.

Using a 65mm PomPom Maker, make one side of the pompom with Aran and the other with Butterscotch. See photos Attach the PomPom to the top of the hat
