"How super cute is this? A Messy Bun/ponytail Hat and a Sun Hat all wrapped up into one. I used #4 worsted weight yarn and a 5.5mm hook. You can leave it plain, add the stars to represent our independence the month of July or add an anchor appliqué for the nautical-themed, boat riding, fishing lady. Wear something pretty and functional. It keeps your hair in a ponytail and blocks the sun for you. This would look great in any summertime color. Good luck and Happy Crocheting..."

As a lady who have really long hair, down to my butt. I have to love this hat! My hair is in a pony tail all the time in the summer and I miss wearing hats. With this hat I can keep my hair off my neck and look good to boot. I'm not sure why the hat is called "Messy Bun" because it helps your hair look nice and neat! The written pattern is well done and easy to understand and follow. I'm looking forward to making this one and use it for more then the 4th. of July. A must have hat for anyone with long hair and want to keep it off your neck. Thank you so much for sharing this free crochet pattern.
