Fluffy Hat and Hand Muff Set

"This cute little set reminds me of when I was a little girl. I had a similar bonnet in fake fur with cute pompoms on the ties. The set had a matching hand muff which I loved to wear with my fancy holiday coat! I worked this up in a combination of worsted weight and fake fur with a self liner for the muff. Instead of the pompom ties my bonnet had, this one has a built in scarf to keep her neck warm too. Of course you can make it in any comparable weight yarn and it would be fun to try different novelty yarns too."

Working with this type of yarn can be tricky. You have to feel your stitches, rather than see them. When crocheting with it, you will find that the wrong side is the best side (if working in the round). One way to make it easier to work with is to use a smooth yarn with it. I wouldnt use anything too thick though, or it will show. A fingering or lace weight usually works well, and it doesnt alter the size of the project by much.

I looked at this post and thought, how can this possibly be crochet? I made a similar set for my oldest daughter when she was a little girl, but I used fake fur fabric. The instructions are easy enoughno complicated stitches requiredbut she does warn that once you start on the fake fur yarn, it can be difficult to see the stitches. I was expecting to just incorporate the regular worsted with the furry, but she indicates that shes using the furry yarn by itself.

Wow how pretty is this Fluffy Hat and Hand Muff Set. I love this and I know that I have a few Grand daughters who will love this set as much as I do.. After reading the pattern I like that the muff has a crocheted liner and not fabric like most I have seen. This is a well written pattern and easy to follow. I'm putting this pattern on my must make list and need to find the yarn. Thank you so much for sharing this free crochet pattern.
