Colors of the Rainbow Arm Warmers

Fingerless gloves are great to keep around, but sometimes you just need something a little longer and warmer, and that's where these Colors of the Rainbow Arm Warmers come in! This easy crochet pattern is worked the same as the fingerless gloves of the same name, except that the pattern is extended to reach the elbow. Use two or more colors for a bold, striped look and use simple crochet stitches to work these crochet arm warmers up in no time.

NotesNOTES
•Gloves are worked from the cuff up; make the foundation chain loosely to allow for stretching
•Change color on every BACK POST round; carry the yarn inside the glove or fasten off, whichever you prefer
•Starting chain does NOT count as a stitch
•Each round is started in the same stitch as your starting chain, unless directed otherwise
•The end of each round is joined by slip stitching in the first hdc of the round, not the starting chain

Abbreviations

Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Yarn over, insert hook into the stitch being worked, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on the hook.
HDC Decrease (hdc2tog)
Yarn over, insert hook into the first stitch being worked, yarn over and pull up a loop, insert hook in the next stitch and pull up a loop, yarn over and draw through all 4 loops on the hook. (If you are familiar with invisible decreases, I recommend using that technique instead.
HDC Invisible Increase
Make 1 hdc in the next stitch being worked (first stitch made), working in the back loop only of the same stitch, make another hdc (invisible increase made).
Back Post Half Double Crochet (BPhdc)
Yarn over, working from back to front, insert hook around the post of the corresponding stitch below, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on the hook.
Back Post HDC Decrease (BPhdc2tog)
Yarn over, working from back to front, insert hook around the post of the corresponding stitch below, yarn over and pull through the stitch and the first loop on the hook, insert hook around the post of the next stitch and pull up a loop, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on the hook.
Back Post HDC Increase (2 BPhdc next stitch)
Yarn over, working from back to front, insert hook around the post of the corresponding stitch below, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on the hook (first stitch made). The easiest way to make the increase stitch is to work a regular HDC into the base of the BPhdc just made (or into the strand that goes around the post of the stitch below). It’s less bulky than trying to do a second post stitch in the same space.

I really like these. It would be a lot of fun to have a set for my granddaughter and I. This is a great way to keep our arms warm while working outside in the fall. Sometimes sitting in the living room during the winter it is chilly and these would be great.

Another Ultimate Scrap Buster project for the collection! Thank you for breaking down the sizes into separate patterns. I can follow instructions that contain multiple sizes, but most of my crochet students find them confusing. I usually wind up separating them myself if I want to print off the pattern to hand out at class. That little glossary at the end is helpful, but it would be even better if links or photos were included.

These arm warmers are erroneously named. They are definitely not the colors of the rainbow because there is neither gray nor white color in the rainbow. Nevertheless these arm warmers are so beautiful with the colors used here.

I love the mix of colors in these arm warmers! They are definitely eye-catching.
