Morning Star Square

"Crochet five pointed star on a solid square with many possibilities. The solid granny square is crocheted continually from the pop-up star. However, this pattern is made by mainly simple crochet stitches so it's an easy crochet pattern for most crocheters. I created this design for stash buster projects. You can use any yarn type and any hook size to crochet these squares. This afghan square is cute for blanket or throw or just a simple coaster."

I can see this added to any granny square afghan. However this would make a beautiful patriotic afghan to present to any Veteran that you would love to show love or appreciation to.

I like that the designer of this Morning Star granny square attached the item as crocheted in lieu of sewing the star on afterward. I also appreciate that there was more than one color combination show at the start of the pattern. The red, white and blue make me think of a certain hero's shield.

Interesting way of making the star without sewing it onto the square! I never would have thought of that. As you can see in hte photos she provided, step by step, you actually make the star, then turn it upside down and begin to attach your new color onto the back...and create your circle there! What a time saver this will be. The purple with the red and pink combo is so pretty to me. Another great thing is that you can feel free to use any of your scraps you already have at home.

Last week was Fourth of July week and this morning star square would have been a great find for making a few decorations if I had only found it sooner. I can always get an early start on next year. This is a great stash buster project. Would be a great coaster for your tabletop or picnic table or it could be made into cup cozies.
