Unicorn Legwarmers

"Two patterns for legwarmers - one for very slim legs and one for a newborn baby. However, you can make these for anyone. If it comes to a width, first, you should crochet enough chain stitches to wrap around the widest area of your leg (upper part, or a calf). Then count them and make sure the total number is a multiple of 4. For example, if you make a chain of 62 sts than your nearest number to work with would be 60 sts. It is better to make it one or two stitches smaller because the legwarmers will stretch. For the length do this: measure a distance between the upper part and the ankle area, and crochet until you reach the desired length. If you would like your legwarmers to have a gathered look, then I would make few extra rows."

These easy to work up leg warmers are a great idea. Admittedly, the first thing I thought of was the dance wear craze from the 80s (remember Flash Dance) but whats old is new again, isnt it? The designer details how to measure the length of the legwarmer to fit any size. AND theres also an instructional video for both right and left handed crafters.

A great versatile pattern that can be used are either leg warmers or arm warmers depending on what part of you is cold and exposed to the elements or I could even make two pairs / sets and keep my arms and legs warm at the same time and do it with style.

The unicorn legwarmers are a great gift for Valentine's Day, for those who are not real keen on all the hearts and flowers. I don't know, just something about a unicorn that makes me think... Valentine. -) I appreciate the flexibility of the pattern. We can custom measure our own calf and chain a length, then make sure it's in a multiple of 4! Did I say how much I love the Lion Brand Mandala?!
